Sleepless

My head is spinning, I'm stressed out, and I can't sleep. I've been in bed since about 2:15 AM, but couldn't let go enough to lose consciousness.

The movie was sold out tonight, so instead of that, I went to dinner with Ray. She looked great! Absolutely stunning! It's too bad our plans for the evening fell through. After dinner, we went back to her place and sat on her couch talking for a while. No, that's not code for anything. Then we fell asleep for maybe a couple hours, still on the couch.

At about 1 AM, I woke up, tucked her in and left. At first, I headed down my usual path towards I-25, but then remembered that it was going to have overnight closures, so I changed course to head down 287. Apparently, my indecision attracted the attention of the local police, who pulled me over a half mile or so later to tell me I made an illegal turn, was speeding (5 over the limit) and changed lanes without signaling. All of these horrible offenses garnered me not even a warning, even though they saw it necessary to call for backup - they had at least two cruisers there for the stop. The cop told me I had a bad attitude, though ("I did too use my turn signal"). I really don't think this is what is keeping me awake.

The rest of the drive was uneventful. The time between getting home at 2 and (checks clock) 4:45 was spent watching all my various stresses swim past. That and writing this. I still don't feel tired. In fact, I think I'm hungry. /sigh

The Klutz

I was in a meeting at work with the rest of my team. It was a pretty casual meeting. I was leaning back in my chair for most of it. At one point, I went to sit up, but the chair wasn't coming with me! What's wrong here?

I hooked the chair under the bottom of the whiteboard on the wall behind me, and when I sat up, the spring in the chair lifted the whiteboard up, ripping one of the supports out of the wall and causing the whole thing to fall down almost on my head. It fell lopsided (since only one support was torn out) and punched a rectangular hole in the drywall on one side of the room.

At this point, I was able to turn around and place it more gently on the floor of the meeting room while the rest of the team watched (though John did help a bit with the lifting).

Oops!

Midterms done

Midterms are done. Got a 96% on the second one (yay!). Now I can breathe!

Oh, wait... I still have to read another 4 chapters for next week. Ugh.

Dumbest science class ever

As part of my degree program, I am taking the dumbest science class ever. This is a basic overview of science, barely scratching the surface of any particular discipline. Yet this is a 300-level class? How?

Anyway, in this dumb science class, I just took the midterm exam. I got an 84% on it, but I have no idea what I might have done so wrong. This brings my grade-to-date down to an 88% because the mid-term was pretty heavily weighted. Crap.

Now I actually have to start caring about this class for no other reason than to protect my GPA. I hate this.
