Still talking about the weather
Here in the Denver area, what's there to talk about besides the weather? Every weekend for about a month, there's been a new snowstorm. As a result, I've been driving the truck everywhere, and letting the Accord sit still. It's not quite as good in the snow.
But there's a side effect of letting the car sit. See, in Colorado, it might snow, but it usually melts off pretty quickly. This unusual weather means we've still got snow on the ground, and the meltoff has re-freezed several times now. Since the car was sitting still starting before the first snowstorm, the tires were sitting happily on the pavement, but since the gutters were clogged up with snow, the melting snow had nowhere to go. It pooled up under the car's wheels and re-froze, leaving the tires encased in ice.
I finally moved the car today. The good news was that it started right up after sitting for so long. The bad news is that even with the engine running fine, I couldn't go anywhere with the ice as deep as it was. You can see where the tires were in the picture above. The sidewalk is maybe three or four inches to the right of those tire marks. But with a little shoveling away at the snow pile on the north side of the car (which will never melt if the car doesn't move), and a little chipping at the ice, I was able to break the car out of its icy prison and pull it forward to sit a little longer.
Now I need to find my ice skates. I might as well - I have a free rink in the front yard!
